Android Version of « Weather for Switzerland »

In addition to updating the iPhone application “Weather for Switzerland”, we launch the service on Android.

We hope it will meet the same success as on the Apple platform: Weather for Switzerland remained for the last 14 months in the top three free applications for weather in Switzerland, through reliable and updated forecasts and a clear and sexy design. The service has expanded and offers now forecasts for 75 Swiss locations.

On the other hand, we also launched the service “Weather for France”, also available on iPhone and Android.

Update Swiss Traffic for iPhone

The updated version of Swiss Traffic for iPhone is available for download. The main new features are:

•	Indication of the speed limit for all fix speed cameras in Switzerland
•	Scale of the screen “fix speed cameras” adapted to the speed of the user
•	Detection “highway / off highway” improved and refined
•	Optimized management of the music
•	Independent settings of the sounds of the application (speeches, alerts, beeps, etc)

An similar update for Android took place in early October 2011.

700’000th user of service of ID Mobile SA

Mrs Marie-Laure Golliard from Villars-le-Terroir (VD) had a pleasant surprise this last Monday November 21st 2011. She was lucky to be the 700’000 person to download a service of ID Mobile SA.

We congratulate her and thank her for the trust by offering a full access to the Swiss Traffic service for 12 months.

Have you expected this update for long? Here it is !

We are launching at the same time the Android version of Weather for Switzerland.

We hope that the Android version will have as much success as the Apple one. Indeed, 14 months after the last update, « Weather for Switzerland » is still leading the classification of free of charge weather apps in Switzerland.

We take this opportunity to launch the same service for France, called Weather for France.

Enjoy!

Viasuisse SA and ID Mobile SA associated until December 2013

Viasuisse SA and ID Mobile SA join their forces and work together from now on. Let’s just remind that Viasuisse SA is the national center responsible for the traffic information across the national road network.

The main objective of the partners is to combine real-time information of their users on the Swiss road network. After processing the data, the ambition is to provide faster and more precisely disruption of traffic or the return to normalcy of it, to disseminate this information and thereby increasing road safety.

To work with an entity whose partner are SSR/SRG, TCS, Swiss Railways, Skymedia/Traffix and the Swiss Confederation (ASTRA) attests to the quality of Swiss Traffic and motivates particularly the employees of ID Mobile SA.

Note also that Swiss Traffic, official web service of Tamedia/Newsnetz AG and Edripresse Suisse SA, has almost 700'000 downloads in Switzerland on various platforms such as iPhone, Android, Blackberry or Java.

The Swiss Charity application enjoyed an emotionally-charged and successful launch at the end of August 2011 at the Casino Barrière in Montreux. The associations and foundations that have chosen to entrust their fundraising efforts to this new donation processing method have shown tremendous enthusiasm. More than 2’500 Francs have been received, which is about 3 Francs per person through this first of its kind service, still relatively unknown and as yet scarcely present in the applications market.

Swiss Traffic, number 1 of live traffic information on mobile devices in Switzerland, is firing its 5 years old.

Almost 500'000 people have downloaded Swiss Traffic on their mobile devices in Switzerland, which is about one of fifteen Swiss person. Among this group, over 35% regularly log on and use the service, nearly 180'000 people.

Swiss Traffic publishes an average of 250 daily traffic information, all types of information together. This average rises to 300 information Monday through Friday.

The success of Swiss Traffic is due to various aspects:

- a trilingual trafic information center reachable 24 hours a day
- a strong community of active informants
- over one million "push" messages sent daily
- a service available on all mobile devices of the market

To continue to evolve and consolidate its leading position in Switzerland, Swiss Traffic offers a complete facelift and expands its offer with new useful features. New features include:

- a function "Route" with immediate display of the traffic on the chosen route. Each route can be saved in the favorites

- detection "On Highways" / "Off Highways" to receive only the type of information concerning the position of the user

- a new map, clearer and lighter for a very limited data traffic compared to Google Maps

Swiss Traffic is available for download from AppStore (iPhone) and Android Market

Section Speed Control (SSC)

A new generation of speed cams arrives in Switzerland... Now the average speed over a preset distance will be controlled in various locations in Switzerland.

First controlled section, the Arisdorf tunnel on the A2 highway between Basel and Lucerne came in testing since the beginning of October. Only in direction of Lucerne, vehicles are recorded at the entrance and exit of the tunnel (about 1750 meters). If the average peed eceeds the limit (which is variable in this tunnel, according to day/night time and traffic density), the fine will be sent to the driver.

The second section is between Aigle and Bex-North, on the A9 highway, in direction of the Valais. The test phase will take place at the end of 2010 and the begining of 2011. They encountered some problems, as the installation is still in test phase in autumn 2011. We'll keep you informed as soon as it will be possible.

Swiss Traffic announces these new types of speed traps as "Section Speed control". They are placed at the beginning of the section and indicate the lenght of section affected. Then the driver has to pay attention to his average speed on this section.

Speeding up in Switezrland in 2009

Speeding instead of drink driving: the number of drivers caught speeding increased as cases of drink driving are down. In general, withdrawals of driving licenses have remained stable in 2009.

Last year, 74'881 driving licenses were removed from their holders, which is 555 more than in 2008. Among causes, speeding is up of 5% with 35'003 cases, a record acording to the Swiss federal Road Office.

On the other hand, sanctions against drunk drivers decreased. The license was withdrawn 17'4230 times for a BAC of 0.8 per thousand or more (-7,8%) while 6008 warnings (from 0.5 to 0.79 per thousand) were delivered (-4,4%).

More inattention
Withdrawals due ton inattention have meanwhile increased by 2,5% with 9031 units. Mobile phones and GPS devices would be involved, said last Monday the Federal Road Office.

Psychological expertise up
Psychological expertise has increased by 60% in 2399. Several reasons for this boom. It is thus necessary to take this test to get the license back after cancellation of the test driver's license. Experise is also required for repeat offenders after three serious offenses.
